Distinctive Unit Insignia


Description/Blazon
A gold color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height consisting of a blue star superimposed by a gold drawn bow with two arrow points up and overall an eagle's head in shades of gold brown all enclosed by a blue scroll inscribed "THE EYE OF" at top and "AN EAGLE" at bottom in gold letters.

Symbolism
Ultramarine blue is the primary color of aviation.  The drawn bow symbolizes military preparedness and attack and defense capabilities.  The bow and arrows along with the star also reflect the organization's heritage and home location, Texas.  The eagle, denoting flight, swiftness and mobility, underscores the unit's motto.

Background
The distinctive unit insignia was approved on 10 February 1989.
